What Do I Need?

The dumplings are mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, almond flour, baking powder, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, xanthan gum, and salt.

Why Use a Crockpot?

Using a crockpot can make soups and similar dishes much easier since it allows a space to cook without having to keep a close eye on the food constantly, can be prepped early in the day and ready by dinner time, and helps food better combine its flavors to create the best meals altogether.

How Long Will This Take?

The total cook time for your chicken and dumplings is 4 hours. You will need to create the soup base and cook it for 3 hours, then make the dumplings and place them in before cooking for another hour. This means you can make your meal ahead of time and not have to be rushing to make everything at once when dinnertime comes.

Why Use Cheese?

Cheese is used as a base for the dumplings instead of normal heavy floured concepts because it reduces the carbs so that the food can be low carb for keto eaters. You still get a delicious and similar result to traditional dumplings, but it’s less effort to make the dough and keeps carbs low.

What If I Don’t Eat Keto?

Anyone can enjoy this recipe. It’s not just needed to be for those eating Keto, which is great since, in many households, not everyone is particularly adhering to or choosing to eat in a keto fashion. This meal will still be delicious for anyone not paying attention to carbs and works great for those!

Should I Make or Buy Broth?

Chicken broth is called for in this recipe, which can be done at home or store-bought, depending on your needs. If you usually make your own bone broth or stock, it’ll be perfectly useful in this dish, and if you feel like trying to do so for the first time, you’re welcome to! Store-bought just brings down the prep time for ingredients.

What Do I Do With Leftovers?

You can easily store leftover chicken and dumplings in your fridge after making them, just put them into an air-tight container and into the fridge. To reheat your leftovers be sure to remove the dumplings and reheat the soup on its own in the microwave or on the stovetop, then heat the dumplings in the oven or microwave separately to put on top.
