Easy Ice Cream Sandwiches

What Ingredients Do I Use?

Since it’s an ice cream sandwich, there are some personal liberties you can take with what specific ingredients you use. But for the basics, you’ll need a half-gallon of vanilla ice cream, 16 MnM cookies, and then decorations like sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, chopped nuts, coconut pieces, or anything else that inspires you.

How Many Can I make?

With the amounts of ingredients from this recipe, you can make 8 ice cream sandwiches. That can last just one person quite a while, but if you have a larger household or family or are sharing these across a party you may want to increase the ratios of ingredients to make more.

Will They Go Bad While Storing?

If you tightly store these in parchment paper and in a freezer bag, they should last for multiple weeks at a time. We’d assume you and your company would finish them off by then, but if you’re wanting to make a larger batch to last for a while, then you do have quite some time. These can last in the freezer before the freezer burns.

Will Making Homemade Ingredients Alter the Recipe?

Going the extra mile to make homemade elements of this idea can be a great way to have more fun making them; just be mindful you will add extra time. You can make toppings, cookies, or ice cream to your own liking for sure. Just try to keep cookies the same size, and remember to fully cool them before adding the ice cream.

Can I Customize Mine?

Of course! Taking this easy base and making it more fun or sentimental to you is precisely the fun part. You can experiment with different types of cookie-like chocolate chip, peanut butter, and more, or change the ice cream flavor too. You can even do more than one type of decoration outside on the rim if you want!

Is This Safe For Kids to Make?

Families out there looking for a recipe to do with your little ones this summer are in luck, this recipe is fairly easy to include your kids’ help in. There’s no element of heat, and decorating your sandwiches will be super exciting for them! Just be sure to monitor and help with the steps, so you don’t end up with a huge ice cream mess.

What If The Toppings Don’t Stick?

The recipe gives you a bit of a tip for when you’re decorating the outside edge of the ice cream with toppings, but if rolling and pressing it on yourself doesn’t work, don’t panic. Try letting the ice cream melt a little more, and then try putting toppings on the outside again, carefully pressing them in with a spatula or your hands.

Do I Have to Use Parchment Paper?

Freezing and long-term storing of your ice cream sandwich creations call for parchment paper in this particular recipe, but if you don’t have that, it’s okay too. You can substitute parchment paper for plastic wrap or even possibly aluminum foil, just anything that can keep them safe and won’t deteriorate from the cold of your freezer.
